Zinc Oxide Sunscreen Benefits:

The sunscreen uses zinc oxide, a mineral filter that reflects sunlight, providing superior broad-spectrum protection. Unlike chemical sunscreens, it's not absorbed by the skin and is safer for children and sensitive skin types. Consequently, a 15-20 minute waiting period, often associated with chemical formulations, is not required for this sunscreen to become effective; protection commences immediately upon skin contact. The added herbal silicone from olive oil ensures easy application and a smooth, non-greasy finish. The product is free from sulfates, parabens, animal sources, alcohol, mineral oil, synthetic silicones, chemical filters, and preservatives.

Proper Application for Optimal Protection:

To achieve the advertised SPF 30 protection, apply approximately two milligrams of sunscreen per square centimeter of skin. This translates to about 1/3 teaspoon for your face and neck, and one ounce (a shot glass) for your entire body. Most people under-apply, leading to sunburns despite sunscreen use.

Why Not SPF 50?

Zinc oxide provides full broad-spectrum protection by reflecting UV rays. However, higher percentages of zinc oxide can create a white cast on the skin and make application more difficult.

SPF 30 is the perfect balance between protection, appearance, and usability:

• SPF 30 blocks 97% of UVB rays
• SPF 50 blocks 98% of UVB rays (only 1% more!)
• SPF 50 sunscreens are harder to apply, often leading to insufficient coverage
